We Fight for What We Love.

We love our neighbors, our environment, our local businesses, our farms, our kids, and our democracy!

My Priorities

  1. Smart economic growth: supporting the growth of local businesses and farms, and ensuring livable wages and good conditions for workers

  2. Good public services: advocating for exceptional education for our students and healthcare for low income families (Medicaid)

  3. Protecting the environment: conservation and recreation are at the heart of our district

ABOUT DANIEL COLTEN SCHMIDT

Daniel grew up in St. Louis Missouri, and has lived in both rural and urban communities all across this country. He studied natural philosophy and economics in college, and moved back to the Midwest because of his love for the Mississippi River.

Daniel is deeply committed to serving his community, and in his professional career as nonprofit development director, he brought more than $12.5 million dollars to the East Phillips neighborhood in South Minneapolis, one of the poorest communities in the state.

Daniel bought his first home in South Chisago Lake Township with his partner, and they are now renovating the historic home and revitalizing the old orchard. He is excited to embody his strong conviction and care for people, and to utilize his deep understanding of our political economy to serve you, our neighbors, and the beautiful St. Croix River Valley.

Too often these days, politics are polarized and driven by self interest.

That’s not me.

I care deeply for the well being of my neighbors.

No matter if you are liberal or conservative, I will work for you to create a safer, more prosperous community.
